From Nepal and Pakistan to Belgium,
a journey of hands, heritage and time.

A rug should do more than dress a room. It should change the way it feels. We design handmade rugs for people who understand that difference, and spend their lives looking for it.

The story of Touching Floors

Touching Floors is a family-run Belgian rug brand led by Jan Weytjens and Sabina Casagrande. From their base in Genk, they bring together a shared appreciation for thoughtful design, natural materials and traditional craftsmanship. Their collections are developed in close collaboration with skilled artisans, whose knowledge has been passed down through generations. Every rug is shaped slowly by hand, allowing subtle variations in colour, texture and form to become part of its character. Jan and Sabina believe that a rug should do more than complete an interior: it should bring warmth, tactility and a lasting sense of connection. This personal approach continues to guide Touching Floors today, from the first design idea to the finished piece.

Local mastery

Our rugs are hand knotted in Nepal and Pakistan, by people who have spent generations perfecting a craft that can’t be rushed or replicated. Every knot is a conscious gesture. We chose these regions out of a deep respect for their tradition. Precision and pride go hand in hand here.

We work exclusively with natural fibres. Wool, silk, nettle, bamboo, cactus, hemp. Materials that have proven themselves over centuries. They hold their colour, their texture, their presence. Because a rug that truly lasts is well chosen, from the very first thread.

Our materials

It all starts with the fibre. We work with a select palette of natural materials, carefully selected for how they feel, last and behave over time. Get to know the six that shape every rug we make.
